What, another round of WorldRX already? Riga, Latvia awaits for what will be the 9th round this year, and the final round of EuroRX. There’s also some special guests this time as well.

But first we need to look back at Loheac. It may look like it was business as usual with Kristoffersson being the top qualifier and winning the final, but he was challenged throughout the weekend like never before this season. Andreas Bakkerud led the final until the last lap, but the gap down to Kristoffersson wasn’t large enough and the norwegian had to settle for second. The final was the closest finish win WorldRX history, with only 1.575 seconds separating the drivers.

In our fantasy game GiuRX took a solid win with a huge 143 points, extending his lead over me and TurboThomi. After Riga the worst score so far will be subtracted from the total, meaning that everything will tighten up.

Despite being one of the newest tracks on the calendar, the Bikernieki circuit in Riga stays true to the traditional rallycross formula. The track is tight, unforgiving and has a good mix of longer and tighter corners. The joker lap merge is right before the finish line, and the racing line is slightly different compared to the standard lap.

Since Loheac a few things have come up in terms of rallycross news. The most serious part is probably the fact that Petter Solberg has been struggling with illness the past year. After all the heats he has been completely exhausted, and at one point the team was considering hiring a new driver. Solberg is amazingly still third in the championship, slowly recovering and already looking forward to next season.

Continuing with the sad news, Audi Sport announced that they will focus on DTM and Formula E next season, meaning that EKSRX is losing the factory support. That’s last season all over again for Andreas Bakkerud, who chose EKS due to their long term plans. It seems that the team will continue with increased involvement from their other sponsors though, and perhaps even with a new manufacturer. Here in Latvia they enter with four cars, as Nico Müller joins for WorldRX and Krisztián Szabo for EuroRX.

MJP Team Austria also returns with Toomas Heikkinen and Alex Wurz, the latter having debuted in Norway earlier this year with varied success. GC Kompetition is yet to announce a second driver for this event. Liam Doran drove well at Loheac though, meaning that he might be given the chance here as well. Timo Scheider also returns with Münnich Motorsport, hoping for a better weekend than Loheac.

In order to enter Fantasy WorldRX, post your top 6 drivers in the comments section. You may only pick one driver from each team, but you may mix WorldRX and EuroRX as you want.
