Fantasy WorldRX Preview: French Open

This championship is far from decided. A battle between Bakkerud and Hansen was expected from the start, but that Kevin would be leading the championship before the last three rounds was not excactly what we were thinking in April. Loheac is just the right track to turn things around just one more time.

The last major rallycross event was running without the World Championship though, as Thomas Bryntesson won his first EuroRX round of the year at Estering ahead of Robin Larsson and Rene Münnich. Maybe the EuroRX championship isn’t decided just yet? We’ll see how things go in Loheac.

In our Fantasy Game our Dutch Engineer won with a perfect score, congrats! It looks like the championship will be between myself and TurboThomi this year, if GiuRX doesn’t make a great comeback the last couple of rounds.

Loheac should be well known for most of the WorldRX followers by now. It is a track with lots of grip, and tire management is essential to a good result here. Unless it rains, of course. Then the fine grained gravel goes from very grippy to very slippery, and different drivers may benefit. The past three years Johan Kristoffersson dominated completely here, so a tidy driving style with some elements from rallying should suit this track.

Length: 1070 m
Tarmac/Gravel: 33 % / 67 %
Lap Record: 00:35.994 (Johan Kristoffersson)

Joining the WorldRX field this weekend is a number of wildcard drivers. The most notable is former vice-champion Toomas “Topi” Heikkinen, who will be the fifth driver entering with GRX this year. All of them have achieved a podium finish, so I wouldn’t rule out a good result for Topi this time around. ESMotorsport keeps putting different drivers in their Skoda, this time the russian Autocross driver Matvey Furazhkin will make his WorldRX debut. Jani Paasonen in STARD and the Pailler brothers in their family team will hope to go through to the semifinals, while “Knapick” continues to enter everytime WorldRX comes to Loheac.

The EuroRX entry list is made up of the regulars, together with several drivers coming from a very strong French championship. Several of them are likely to get into the semifinals, and one should be careful with picking in EuroRX this time around. Also notable is the comback of Derek Tohill, who has been a regular in WorldRX and EuroRX previous seasons.

In order to enter Fantasy WorldRX, you must pick six drivers from the entry list below. You can only pick one driver from each team. You may pick a combination of drivers from both WorldRX and EuroRX. If your drivers score points in the order you picked them, you will earn 10 bonus points. You may pick a driver for the Monster Energy Supercharge Award to be able to score another 10 points, but if your driver doesn’t make it to the semifinals, 10 points will be deducted from your score. All the drivers available to pick are listed below.

If you want to do more research, the stats are also available. Everything can be watched on Youtube on Saturday and Sunday (might be geoblocked).
