Summer break is over, time to get going again! We’re in Canada for what is the only FIA World Rallycross round in the Americas this year. Time for some tight racing on the streets of Trois-Rivieres!
In Höljes we saw a surprise win from Sebastian Eriksson, who replicated his performance from 2014 without having the car failing on him. Only Kevin Hansen was closing up on Eriksson as the OlsbergsMSE Fiesta was starting to overheat, but didn’t manage to pass. Reinis Nitiss also surprised with a third place, an achievement that can only be described as heroic bearing in mind that he rolled spectacularly in Q1.
In our fantasy game TurboThomi remains in the lead, even if GiuRX had the better score this time around. The rest of the players are slightly further behind, but the worst rounds are still to be deducted from the total points score.
The track in Trois-Rivieres is one of the fastest on the calendar in the way that it has the longest straight we see during the season. In earlier seasons teams have changed both downforce and gear ratios for this track, until cost-cutting measures disallowed it. On the other hand, the rest of the track is very tight with little to no runoff area. Going off the racing line here often means going into a concrete barrier, something that will ruin your race.
Length: 1370 m
Tarmac/Gravel: 60% / 40 %
Lap Record: 00:46.959 (Petter Solberg)
Previous Winners: Johan Kristoffersson (2017, 2018), Timmy Hansen (2016), Davy Jeanney (2015), Petter Solberg (2014)
Apart from Petter Solberg in 2014, this track has proved to suit drivers with a cleaner driving style. Johan Kristoffersson was completely dominant here the last two years, and Timmy Hansen and Davy Jeanney have both showed that the Peugeot is quick here. From the current crop of drivers, only Timmy Hansen, Andreas Bakkerud and Anton Marklund have been on the podium here. Should make things slightly more unpredictable.
The entry list is made up of familiar faces, who all have raced at least one round previously this year. Jani Paasonen will drive the second STARD Fiesta here after Jere Kalliokoski used it in Sweden, and Rokas Baciuska continues with GCK for the overseas rounds as well. The only question mark is behind the wheel of the ES Motorsport Skoda Fabia, which was piloted by Kevin Abbring the last two rounds. I’m sure most rallycross fans would like to see Abbring race here as well, because his performance in Hell und Höljes was worthy a permanent seat!
In order to enter Fantasy WorldRX, you must pick six drivers from the entry list below. You can only pick one driver from each team. If your drivers score points in the order you picked them, you will earn 10 bonus points. You may pick a driver for the Monster Energy Supercharge Award to be able to score another 10 points, but if your driver doesn’t make it to the semifinals, 10 points will be deducted from your score. All the drivers available to pick are listed below.
