Team RallyErika is heading north of the boarder next week to compete in the Canadian Rally Championship at Rally of the Tall Pines. Erika Detota and Mary Warren have also added Team O’Neil as sponsor and attended driver/co-driver training by world championship co-drivers Alex and Rhianon Gelsomino. Alex and Rhianon Gelsomino run OzRally Pro training for teams looking to improve their pace note preparation. This training was important to have for Detota and Warren, because while computer generated pace notes are provided at U.S events, in Canada and at other international rallies, teams must write or purchase and customize their own pace notes.

Chelsmford, MA: Team O’Neil Rally School joins Team RallyErika as they head to the final round of the Canadian Rally Championship. The team of Erika Detota and Mary Warren are pleased to announce an exciting new partner - Team O’Neil. The school’s support has allowed the girls to test and tune their Subaru Impreza before their next event. “I am glad Erika was able to shakedown the car before the event, as it will be her first time in Canada. We would like to work closer in the future with other teams to make sure their car set ups are proper for conditions and driving styles.” says the school’s founder and multiple rally champion Tim O’Neil.
This isn’t the first time Erika has worked with Team O’Neil. In 2009 after completing the 5-day rally school she competed in her first National rally event with an instructor and Team O’Neil car. “The school was the most important step to my success, the instructors are some of the best drivers in the country and the skills they teach provide a foundation for any aspiring driver,” said Detota.
In preparation for competing in the Canadian Rally Championship for the first time, the duo will be attending OzRally Pro training with Alex and Rhianon Gelsomino, world championship co-drivers, who teach a class for teams looking to improve their note making. Prior to all rally events teams are granted access to the roads they will race on, in what is called Reconnaissance (Recce). In the Rally America series the team receive notes generated by a computer system to review and revise during their pass. In the Canadian Championship you either write your own or purchase written notes. Alex and Rhianon will train Mary and Erika to write their own notes that work best for their team and how to modify for faster and safer results.
The Rally of the Tall Pines takes place over November 27th -28th in Bancroft Ontario, Canada where the finish will decide the conclusion of the Canada/USA Eastern Championship Team RallyErika has been pursuing. The sixth round of the Canadian Rally Championship always provides a variable of unknown weather conditions with possible snow on the challenging course that run long past dark. TV2GO will feature live video reports at the top of every hour throughout the event starting at 9am Saturday through the final checkpoint. 2015 Canadian Rally Championship is also televised on TSN.
“We are looking forward to the challenge on the roads around Bancroft. Our Ruge’s Subaru rally car could not be in better condition for this event. We are very fortunate to have our sponsors and supporters behind us, allow the team to travel to Canada for this event.” comments Erika.
Team RallyErika is supported by Ruge’s Subaru of Rhinebeck, NY, Keep a Breast Foundation, Team O’Neil Rally School, Exedy Racing Clutch, DBA USA, Rally Armor, Whiteline and Spy Optics.
