It’s time for round two of the 2016 season and that one full-snow rally on the calendar (hopefully).
In the opening round in Monte the massive number of retirements (6 of the 13 WRC cars) meant no fantasy player escaped unscathed. But with race winner Ogier, runner up Mikkelsen, and fourth place finisher Ostberg on almost every roster it was still a strong points day, with 29 players scoring at least 60 points, and fifteen different players tying for the third best score of 72. It was G17 who took the round win though, as he correctly guessed the top four. Newcomer GiuRX came in second, with only his power stage pick letting him down.
Now for Sweden, and the biggest news is the weather. Sweden has had an unusually warm winter with far less snow on the ground than average. This means tire choice will be a big factor as it’s likely teams will have to contend with exposed gravel at some points, which wreaks havoc on the studs. Little snow also means fewer snowbanks to rely on if you find yourself going wide. Winter rallies are a lot like bumper bowling (as I just learned last week), and not having those snowbanks to rely on will definitely be a challenge.
And with that, let’s get down to business. If you’re new be sure to read the rules. Here’s the official Entry List, and the current fantasy points spreadsheet. And while you’re at it, you can also look at the driver’s data and statistics.
