Welcome to the second round of Fantasy WorldRX, where we head to Portugal and Montalegre. Situated in the mountains of the northern part of the country this track can exhibit both proper sunshine and summer as well as torrential rain and nasty slippery conditions. Who will score the most points here?
The first round of the championship saw a couple of familiar faces in Mattias Ekström and Andreas Bakkerud finish 1st and 3rd, while the rallycross newcomer and DTM veteran Timo Scheider finished 2nd. The same situation occured in our Fantasy league, where last years champion TheTurbochargedSquirrel grabbed a win one point ahead of Dusty Ventures and Tromoly. Lumpy44 finished third, while the rest are close behind.
Montalegre is one out of few rallycross track without a jump, but high curbs, slippery gravel and a very long straight ending with the joker lap split ensures that we will see lots of action. Petter Solberg can be considered the expert of Montalegre, having won here twice and been second once. His teammate Johan Kristoffersson also has a win here, and looked like taking another one last year before ending his weekend in Petter Solberg’s side. Picking between them will be extremely hard, especially since Johan scored more points last weekend. Andreas Bakkerud is known for his great passing skills, something that has often been handy at this track giving him several good results.
Length: 1520 m
Lap record: 00:38.939 (Petter Solberg)
Previous winners: Petter Solberg (2014, 2016), Johan Kristoffersson (2015)
In addition to the regular drivers we see Rene Münnich entering as a single driver, rally and rallycross veteran Joaquim Santos and previous rally driver and EuroRX regular Martin Kaczmarski enter in Montalegre.
for participating is simple. You pick six drivers from the entry list
below and post them in the comments before the racing starts Saturday.
You may only pick one driver from each team. If your drivers
score points in the same order as in your picks, you get an additional
10 points. If you want to do an in-depth analysis before picking, consult the WorldRX stats spreadsheet.
To follow the round from Montalegre, tune in Sunday at 15:00 CET on their YouTube site or the TV Channel broadcasting in your country.
